Incline Village, a wealthy enclave in Nevada near the California border, has launched an ambitious wildfire mitigation project using remote-controlled masticators from BurnBot.
These machines are clearing 176.5 acres of overgrown vegetation to create a buffer zone between residential areas and surrounding forests.

Impact & Risks

The project addresses the growing wildfire risk in the region, which has been exacerbated by recent fires like the Bug and Stallion fires that scorched over 120,000 acres. By creating a defensible space, the initiative aims to protect Incline Village's high-value properties and residents from catastrophic fire damage. However, the effectiveness of such measures depends on continued maintenance and community cooperation.
